Official Visit of graduate coordinator of the Social Work (SW) department at the University of Botswana to Seychelles

Eight registered Social Workers are enrolled in the Master of Social Work (MSW) programme offered by the University of Botswana (UB), which commenced in late August this year. As part of the ongoing programme, delivered online, the NIHSS organised an official visit for Dr Morena Rankopo, senior lecturer and graduate coordinator of the Social Work (SW) department at the University of Botswana, to Seychelles from 26 October to 2 November 2025.

Dr Rankopo undertook multiple visits to various Social Work and social work-related departments, engaging with key representatives. The objectives of these visits were to familiarise himself with the multi-disciplinary applications of Social Work in the Seychelles context and to discuss potential field exposures for the MSW learners.

The departments visited included the NCC, DSAPTR, Community Development, Wellness Centre, Probation and Prison Services, and the Child Protection Unit of the Seychelles Police. He also met with representatives from the Learner Support and Special Needs Education Division, the Family Tribunal Branch of the Judiciary, the SW Department at the University of Seychelles, and the SW Council.

The visit concluded on the afternoon of Friday, the 31st, with an NIHSS-organised team-building activity, where he experienced Seychellois culture through Creole culinary arts, local costumes, and unique social customs.
