Umea University Lecturers’ Visit to Seychelles

Two paramedic lecturers from Umea University, Sweden, visited Seychelles from 17 to 20 November 2025. The visit was organised by the National Institute of Health and Social Studies (NIHSS) as part of the exchange initiative and ongoing collaboration in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). They had the opportunity to meet with the Principal Secretary, Dr Bernard Valentin, and the NIHSS Director. They toured the practical room and visited the command centre at the National Call Centre, observing dispatching processes and workflows. They also toured Seychelles Hospital and EMS training facilities, engaging with learners to motivate them. On the third day, they attended a PUC drill at the main power station and shared insights. The visit fostered discussions on operational challenges and future collaboration, strengthening ties and providing valuable insights into Seychelles’ emergency medical care.
